Oriental Overseas's "Oriental Hong Kong" series of super-large container ships currently have a maximum capacity of 21,413 TEU and were officially recognized as the world's largest container ship by Guinness World Records last year. The record will soon be broken with the construction of the Flyship and MSC's 22000 + TEU supercontainer ship.
However, although the current container ship's maximum cargo capacity has exceeded 21 000 TEU, the actual record of the maximum cargo capacity has not yet reached this point.
Mumbai Maersk, a super-large container ship under Maersk's flag, was recently loaded at the port of TANJUNG PELEPAS in Malaysia. A total of 19038TEU containers were loaded on board. The world's first ship to actually pack more than 19,000 TEUs represents the birth of a new world record.
Mumbai Maersk is Maersk's second-generation Triple-E super-large container ship with a maximum capacity of 20568 TEU, which was launched on Eurasian routes in May.
In 2015, Maersk's Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller wheel set a record of loading 18612 TEU. In February 2017, UASC's ships set a new record of loading 18740 TEU.
